Privacy
A short and accurate account of what happens to your data here. It is short because very little happens.
The whole of it, in one paragraph
Cedilla Notes has no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter and no comment section. There is nothing anywhere on this site that asks you to type anything, so there is no store of reader information to describe, protect or hand over.
That is deliberate and it is also a design constraint we hold ourselves to: a form that promises to email you is a promise the code has to keep, and we would rather not make one at all than make one that quietly goes nowhere.
Your browser talks to our server
Serving you a page requires our server to receive a request, and a request carries information whether anybody wants it to or not — your network address, which page you asked for, the time, and the identifying string your browser sends about itself. Standard web server logs record that, as they do for every site you visit.
Those records exist so the site can be operated: to see that pages are being delivered, to notice when something is broken, and to spot automated abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you, they are not sold, and they are not combined with anything from anywhere else.
Cookies, of which there are none from us
Cedilla Notes stores nothing on your device. No cookies are placed by these pages, there is no advertising network embedded in them, and there is no analytics script measuring how you move around.
Practically, that means nothing here follows you to another website, and you will not find a consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. If a future version of the site ever needs a cookie, this page will describe it before it appears.
Leaving for somebody else's site
Some of the links here go to language companies, and a few of them are partner links that would pay us a commission on a purchase. When you click any outbound link you leave this site, and from that point their rules apply rather than ours.
Those companies will very likely set cookies, including ones that record that you arrived from us, because that is the mechanism by which an affiliate commission is attributed at all. We do not receive your identity from that process — what comes back to an affiliate is aggregate, after the fact, and does not name you. What each company does with your data is set out in its own privacy policy, which is worth reading if it concerns you. Which links are commercial, and which of our recommendations can never earn anything, is set out on the page about who pays for this site.
Children
These pages are written for adults teaching themselves a language, and nothing here is directed at children. No information is knowingly collected from anyone, of any age, because none is collected from anyone at all.
Where the site is served from
The pages are static files delivered by a web host. That host processes the server logs described above on our behalf in order to deliver the site, which is the only processing that takes place.
Changes, and how to ask
If any of the above stops being true — if analytics are ever added, or a cookie becomes necessary — this page will be rewritten to say so plainly, and the date at its head will move. Should you want to know what a particular log entry contains, or want one removed, write to the address on the contact page and say what you are asking about.
